DALLAS (NCBWA) – Eastern Connecticut State University
outfielder Jim Schult (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay)
has been named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
NCAA Division III Position Player of the Year, while Marietta
College's Brian Gasser (Jr., New Philadelphia, Ohio/Indian
Valley) earned that organization's NCAA Division III Pitcher
of the Year honors.
Schult was named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association
Player of the Year and first-team All-Little East Conference with
a .392 batting average, 56 runs scored, 19 doubles, five triples,
11 home runs, 64 RBI, a .711 slugging percentage, a .478 on-base
percentage and 20-of-21 stolen bases. He received two first-place
votes and four second-place votes from a panel of sports information
directors.
Gasser, who received five first-place votes and three second-place
votes, was named D3baseball.com Pitcher of the Year and the Ohio
Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year with a 13-0 record, a 1.09
earned run average, 2.51 walks per nine innings, 8.62 strikeouts
per nine innings and a .157 opponent-batting average.

Mount Pleasant, S.C./Wando) Named D3baseball.com first-team All-America and first-team All-University
Athletic Association with a .438 batting average, 49 runs scored,
20 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 60 RBI, a .722 slugging
percentage, a .470 on-base percentage and 28-of-31 stolen bases.
West Region Kyle Felix, Catcher, Trinity University (Texas) (Sr., Woodside,
Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) Named D3baseball.com second-team All-America and first-team All-Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference with a .365 batting average, 51 runs
scored, 24 doubles, 14 home runs, 61 RBI, a .729 slugging percentage,
a .443 on-base percentage and 14-of-17 stolen bases.
Midwest Region Cody Koback, Outfielder, Wisconsin-Stevens Point (Jr., Plover, Wis./Stevens
Point Area) Named D3baseball.com second-team All-America and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference's Position Player of the Year with a .424 batting
average, 71 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs,
47 RBI, a .701 slugging percentage, a .516 on-base percentage and
16-of-18 stolen bases.
South Region Drew Leachman, Outfielder. Birmingham-Southern College (Sr., Mobile,
Ala./McGill Toolen Catholic) Named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Offensive Player
of the Year with a .451 batting average, 60 runs scored, 16 doubles,
two triple, four home runs, 44 RBI, a .648 slugging percentage,
a .521 on-base percentage and 18-of-20 stolen bases.
Mid-Atlantic Region Michael Pascarella, Second Base, Pittsburgh-Bradford (Fr., Bradford,
Pa./Bradford) Named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the
Year and Rookie of the Year with a .464 batting average, 45 runs
scored, six doubles, six triples, six home runs, 32 RBI, a .791
slugging percentage, a .558 on-base percentage and six-of-seven
stolen bases.
New York Region David Kinney, Third Base, Clarkson University (Jr., Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) Named the Liberty League's Player of the Year with a .403 batting

Pitcher of the Year with a 10-0 record, seven complete games, four
shutouts, a 1.00 earned run average, 0.56 walks per nine innings,
11.17 strikeouts per nine innings and a .176 opponent-batting average.
South Region Greg Van Sickler, Shenandoah University (Sr., Stephenson, Va./Wood) Named D3baseball.com first-team All-America and USA South Athletic
Conference Player/Pitcher of the Year with an 11-1 record, a 1.81

per nine innings, 10.07 strikeouts per nine innings and a .227 opponent-batting
average.
New York Region Justin D'Amato, St. John Fisher College (Fr., Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua
Academy) Named the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year with
a 9-2 record, a 3.25 earned run average, 2.73 walks per nine innings,
10.78 strikeouts per nine innings and a .227 opponent-batting average.
