NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – A five-home run week by Dan Fiorito of Manhattanville College and 16 scoreless innings in a pair of wins by Jarrett Gish of Case Western Reserve University have earned them the NCAA Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week of March 26-April 1 as voted on by a panel of D-III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Fiorito, a senior shortstop from Yonkers, N.Y., had a torrid week for Manhattanville against William Paterson and Wilkes. He batted .611, going 11-for-18, with five home runs off of five different pitchers while driving in eight runs and scoring 12 runs himself. He added three doubles, giving him eight extra-base hits and 29 total bases for a 1.611 slugging percentage. He opened the week with a 3-for-5 game with two homers and four RBIs vs. William Paterson, went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles in the first of three games vs. Wilkes, and hit three homers in a doubleheader vs. Wilkes to close the week. In addition to his power, he went 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. Fiorito was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Week.

Gish, a junior southpaw from Jupiter, Fla., posted a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA during a 3-2 week for the Spartans. In 16 scoreless innings, the junior allowed just 10 hits and struck out 13 batters without issuing a walk. He went eight innings with a career-high nine strikeouts to beat Otterbein University 5-0 on Tuesday, then went eight shutout innings with four strikeouts in an eventual 3-2 win over Allegheny College on Sunday. The scoreless skein extended his career-best scoreless-innings streak to 24.2 in a row, dating back to March 15, and lowered his earned run average for the season to 2.56. Gish was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week.
