BCS Chairman to address FWAA on Jan. 4
ANNUAL MEETING SET FOR
WEEK OF FEDEX ORANGE BOWL

DALLAS (FWAA) – The FWAA's annual meeting will occur Jan. 3-5 at the Marina Marriott Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in conjunction with the Bowl Championship Series 1-2 game between Oklahoma and Southern California in the FedEx Orange Bowl.

The FWAA board meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the Dolphin Room at the media hotel. And the awards breakfast and meeting will follow the next morning at the media hotel's Stranahan Room from 9:15 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, chairman of the BCS, will be in attendance and answer media questions at the breakfast.

The FWAA will continue to sponsor the Courage Award, along with ESPN The Magazine. The winner for 2004, Memphis' Haracio Colen, will be honored at the awards breakfast along with the fourth annual Scripps/FWAA Freshman All-America Team.

The FWAA will also recognize winners of its Best Writing Contest and reveal the name of the Volney Meece Scholarship winner during the breakfast.

The presentation of the Grantland Rice Trophy is tentatively scheduled for the morning of Jan. 5 at the media hotel. The winner will be the FWAA's national champion as selected by 16 FWAA members who vote in the weekly Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll.
