NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION,
FWAA POSTPONE FOOTBALL FORUM

DALLAS (FWAA) – The National Football Foundation/Football Writers Association of America Forum, which was scheduled May 14-15, 2009, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has been moved to the spring of 2010.

Given the current economic situation in this country, the NFF and FWAA jointly agreed it would be in the best interests for the long-time viability of the event to postpone it until the following year.

"We have been given every indication that sponsors remain committed to the event," said Steve Richardson, FWAA Executive Director. "But the FWAA agrees with the NFF in its assessment that current economic conditions might prevent full participation by some potential attending entities. The frequency of having the event every other year has always been one of the models considered. This would be that model."

The inaugural event, "The 2008 Football Forum: College Football Today and Tomorrow," was held last May at a DFW Airport hotel and received great reviews among those participating. Head football coaches Jim Tressel of Ohio State, Mark Mangino of Kansas, Gary Patterson of TCU and former Washington coach Tyrone Willingham were among those attending the two-day event.

The 2008 Football Forum, moderated for Fox Sports' Chris Rose, was a series of discussions among media, coaches, presidents, athletic directors, bowl and award representatives, sports information directors and other college football officials.

The health of the game has been a concern to all those associated with it. The Forum serves as a springboard to develop discussions about how the media inter-reacts with those it covers as well as about other pertinent issues surrounding the game of college football.
