NCBWA ANNOUNCES DIVISION III AWARDS

CHICAGO (NBCWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has named Alvernia College shortstop Todd Meyer (Sr., York, Pa.) its 2002 NCAA Division III Player of the Year and Aurora University pitcher Josh Paddock (Sr., Covington, Ill.) its 2002 NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year.

Meyer was an American Baseball Coaches Association first-team All-American, ABCA first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, Pennsylvania Athletic Conference’s Player and of the Year, as well as Pitcher of the Year. He batted .556 with 73 runs scored, 25 home runs and 102 RBI and became the eleventh player in NCAA Division III to hit four home runs in a game (vs. Wilmington College in 5 innings).

Paddock was an American Baseball Coaches Association third-team All-American, ABCA first-team All-Central Region and first-team All-Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference. He went 8-0 with a 0.98 earned run average, four complete games and two shutouts in 64.1 innings pitched, while opponents batted just .192 against him.
