NCBWA NAMES PRO-LINE CAP
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released the Pro-Line Cap National Player of the Week awards for the period ending Feb. 21, today.

Pro-Line Cap: The Choice of Champions. The Citadel sophomore outfielder Chris Swauger was named National Hitter of the Week, while Pepperdine's Barry Enright and TCU's Brad Furnish were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

In three games, the Bulldogs' Swauger produced multiple-hit games in all four contests, finishing the week hitting .636 (7-for-11). The Tampa, Fla., native drove in six runs and scored four times as The Citadel went 2-1 last weekend at the Homewood Suites Shootout at Riley Park. Four of his seven hits went for extra bases for a 1.273 slugging percentage, including a double and a triple that was part of a 2-for-3 day with three RBIs and two runs scored in a win over third-ranked Nebraska. Swauger was also 3-for-4 (2 RBIs and 2 runs) in a victory over Richmond and was 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to 19th-ranked N.C. State.

Enright posted a 2-0 record during the week as he registered victories over No. 15 Long Beach State and No. 2 Oregon State. In two outings, Enright worked 15.0 innings, allowed 10 hits, three runs, walked five and struck out 10 while limiting opposing batters to a .200 average. The sophomore earned his first win of the season against Long Beach State after logging seven innings, surrendering just two runs and striking out four. Against No. 2 Oregon State, Enright pitched eight innings, allowed just one unearned run and struck out a career-high six batters.

Furnish threw a seven-inning no-hitter to lead the No. 18 Horned Frogs to a 13-0 win over Stephen F. Austin in their last game at the Al Ogletree Classic. The no-hitter is the first for a TCU squad since Chris Bradshaw threw a nine-inning no-hitter against Hawaii-Hilo on March 23, 2001. It is the eighth no-hitter in TCU history. His 13 strikeouts in the
contest are a career high.

Furnish (1-0) was on fire in the early innings, facing just one batter over the minimum through four innings. The lone blemish on his line was a one-out walk in the third inning. He struck out Chase Sadler in the fourth inning to set a new career high with nine strikeouts. Following the walk, Furnish retired 12-straight men before a one-out walk in the
seventh. The runner was erased on a double play ending the game. In all, Furnish faced only one batter over the minimum.

With this week's honor, Enright and Furnish Schmidt automatically are named to the watch list for Roger Clemens Award, given to the national collegiate pitcher of the year, sponsored by the Greater Houston Baseball Organization.
