Chicago's Cinoman, Hardin-Simmons' Kriegel honored Bookmark and Share
NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – A monster week that included hitting for the cycle by the fourth inning by Jack Cinoman of the University of Chicago and a school strikeout record by Tim Kriegel of Hardin-Simmons University have earned the pair the NCAA Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the fifth week of 2010, covering games of March 29-April 4, as voted on by a panel of D-III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Cinoman, a freshmen outfielder from Chicago, Ill., batted .882 (15-for-17) in three games, with eight runs scored and 13 driven in. He had five doubles, a triple, and a grand slam home run for 25 total bases and a 1.470 slugging percentage. On Wednesday, he was 5-for-6 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI against North Park University . On Saturday, in a doubleheader vs. Lawrence University , he was 10-for-11 with six runs scored and 11 driven in. In game two, he had a single, double and triple in order, all in an 18-run first inning. On his fifth at bat in the fourth inning, he smashed a grand slam over the right-center field fence to complete the cycle. Cinoman was named the University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week.

Kriegel, a senior right-hander from Round Rock, Texas, tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout with a school-record 14 strikeouts in an American Southwest Conference West Division game against Howard Payne. He walked just two batters over the nine-inning gem and cruised to a 23-0 victory. He had recorded 10 strikeouts through the sixth inning, and needed just 58 pitches to do so. He allowed only one hit through the first seven innings, a single that hit the third-base bag. With his second career shutout, Kriegel was named the American Southwest Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week.
