DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association released its NCAA Division II National Players
of the Week awards for the period ending April 25th. Western
Oregon senior outfielder Daniel Dillard is the National
Hitter of the Week while Slippery Rock junior lefthander
Zach Jeney is the National Pitcher of the Week.
Daniel Dillard (Olalla, Wash.) helped Western Oregon sweep Montana
State Billings on the road and move into first place in the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference. Dillard had a .600 (9-15) batting
average and drove in 12 runs in just four games. He had a slugging
percentage of 1.267. He now has a 13-game hitting streak and has
recorded an RBI in 11 of those 13 contests.
Zach Jeney (California, Pa.) earned Pennsylvania Athletic Conference-Western
Division Pitcher of the Week honor for the second time in the last
three weeks after tossing a complete-game no-hit shutout (4/23)
at Lock Haven (Pa.). Five days earlier he retired the side in order
to preserve a Rock win in a 15-11 offensive shootout at Shippensburg

spring.
