NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – UW-La Crosse's Taylor Kohlwey and Grinnell College's Sam Tinkham gained Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors from the Division III National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association for the period of April 4-10.

Kohlwey, a senior outfielder from Holmen, Wis., continued to impress at the plate for the Eagles. He hit .733 (11-of-15) with eight RBI, six runs, four doubles, three walks, two stolen bases and one home run in Wis.-La Crosse's four-game sweep of Wis.-Platteville April 9-10. He recorded three multiple-hit contests and three multiple-RBI games. The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week went 7-for-8 with five RBI, four runs, three doubles and one home run in two games on April 9. He then finished 4-for-7 with three RBI and two runs on April 10. Kohlwey recorded a .750 on-base and 1.200 slugging percentage in the four games while extending his hitting streak to 22 games dating back to last year.

Tinkham, a senior southpaw from Newington, Conn., made school history for the Pioneers April 7 to begin a weekend series against Monmouth College. The Midwest Conference's Pitcher of the Week, he fired a no-hitter at the Fighting Scots in a 1-0 win. The only opponent base-runner to reach was via an error in the bottom half of the seventh inning, and the Pioneers turned a double play on the very next hitter to clear the bases. Tinkham struck out 12 while walking none and only had a single three-ball count the entire day in route to his first career no-hitter which was the program's second all-time and first since 1999.

Honorable Mention Hitter: Chris Miller, Jr., OF, Clarkson - Was a hard out in the four-game series against Vassar, hitting .750 (9-for-12) with an .824 on-base percentage and a 1.417 slugging percentage. He scored six times and drove in eight, hitting two home runs and two doubles.

Honorable Mention Pitcher: Jordan Risse, Sr., RHP, St. Scholastica - The Saints kicked off the conference season with two wins over Minnesota Morris thanks in large part to a solid pitching performance from Risse. In the game two 10-0 win, Risse recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in his seven innings pitched for a shutout victory. He also gave up just one hit to the Cougars.
