DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announces its Hitter, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Week awardees for April 19-25.

Hitter of the Week: Senior infielder Adrian Reed was en fuego for Madonna University during the span. He .556 with a home run, three doubles, nine RBI, and 11 runs scored in a busy six-game set. Due to his play, Madonna won each contest sweeping Cleary, Lourdes, and Siena Heights. His 15 total hits averaged out to nearly an eye-popping two-and-a-half per appearance.

Pitcher/Rookie of the Week: Right-handed starting pitcher Benjamin Harris had an outing on April 23 that he and his teammates won't soon forget. His 14 strikeouts over nine innings allowed the Brewton-Parker Barons to knock off No. 11-ranked Middle Georgia State 10-1 in salvaging the final game of the Southern States Athletic Conference series. Harris surrendered only one walk and an unearned run in stopping an offense that was hitting just shy of .300 as a team.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
