DALLAS (FWAA) – Washington State's Erik Coleman
(Spokane, Wash.) is the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player
of the Week for his performance in the Cougars' 31-13 victory
over UCLA this past Saturday.
The 5-10, 205-pound senior free safety made 10 tackles (nine
unassisted) and had a hand in four UCLA turnovers. He intercepted
two passes and forced two fumbles. He also broke up a pass. The
Bruins committed seven turnovers and converted on third down only
four times in 18 tries.
For the third straight season, a panel from the Football Writers
Association of America (FWAA) has selected the winner of the weekly
award on behalf of the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Coleman will be added to the Watch List for the Bronko Nagurski
Trophy (best defensive player in college football) which will be
presented on Dec. 8 in Charlotte, N.C., by the FWAA and the Charlotte
Touchdown Club.
