DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National
Players of the Week awards for the week ending on March
22. Georgia College and State University senior infielder
Dylan Cook is the National Hitter of the
Week, while Fairmont State senior pitcher Logan
Johnson is the National Pitcher of the Week.
Cook (Portola Valley, Calif.) had a monster week hitting .579
with four home runs and a 1.316 slugging percentage in four games
for the Bobcats. In a three-game series at Montevallo, the senior
hit .538 with a 1.308 slugging percentage. He cranked four home
runs in his four games, three of those against Montevallo with 10
total RBIs. He opened up with a 4-for-6 effort against Clark Atlanta,
then collected hits in all three games against the Falcons. In the
series finale, he went 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI,
he also had two RBI in the first game of the series. Cook also excelled
in the field with no errors in 19 chances at second base with one
double play turned.
Johnson (Charles Town, W.Va.) threw a complete game, no-hitter
in a 5-0 win over Caldwell going nine innings, walking one and fanning
three in the shutout win as he faced 27 batters. Johnson then pitched
0.2 innings of relief in a 7-5 win at West Virginia Wesleyan allowing
one hit in three at bats.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of
college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and
publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory,
newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player
of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting.
The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication
and writing contests.
