NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – Member institutions of the New England Collegiate Conference, North Atlantic Conference and Midwest Conference gained top accolades on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Division III Hitter, Pitcher and Rookie of Week announcement for the period of April 23-29.

Hitter of the Week: Senior third baseman John Arancio helped lead the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College to a split last week. The Oradell, New Jersey, native hit the cover off the ball, as he batted .688 with a 1.500 slugging percentage. He hit a home run in three straight games, including his second grand slam of the year. The senior totaled 11 RBI, nine runs scored and a walk. In his 16 at-bats, Arancio only struck out once, while registering two doubles and a triple. In the Mountaineers conference win over Newbury, the senior hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5 at the plate. The Mountaineer then tallied his 100th career hit in the backend of a doubleheader with Lesley.

Honorable Mention Hitter: Cole Migliorini, Sr., OF, Randolph-Macon - Wrapped up the regular season with a hot bat as he registered a .727/.800/1.455 slash line in the Yellow Jackets 2-1 week that saw them secure the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Migliorini went 8-for-11 with a triple, two homers, seven runs driven in, six runs scored, four walks, and a pair of stolen bases. He was 4-for-4 with a triple, homer, four RBI, four runs scored, and a steal in a 14-3 non-conference win at St. Mary's (Md.). In a doubleheader split with Roanoke, he went 4-for-7 with a homer and three RBI in a 12-0 shutout victory in game one and two more singles in an 11-3 setback in game two.

Pitcher of the Week: Freshman Cam Graham made history for the Husson Eagles team last week. The Littleton, Maine, native threw a no-hitter against NAC rival Lyndon on Sunday. The freshman went seven innings, walked two and struck out seven. The 1-0 no-hitter was the first no-hitter for a Husson pitcher since 2006.

Honorable Mention Pitcher: Mike Formella, Sr., Concordia (Ill.) - Came out of the bullpen in five of CUC's eight games and converted all five save attempts, including a four-inning stint and a three-inning stint. The senior pitched 11.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while fanning 14.

Rookie of the Week: Ripon College pitcher Austin Fox baffled Midwest Conference rival Beloit College April 28. The Oshkosh, Wis., native took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Buccaneers before a one-out single ended the bid for his first career no-no. He finished the 8-0 victory allowing just that one hit, while striking out eight batters in the first complete game shutout of his career. He retired the side in order in five of his nine innings, and did not allow a runner past second base until the final frame.
