ST. LOUIS (USBWA) – Freshman sensation Kevin Durant of Texas headlines the 2006-07 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's All-America Team, announced today by USBWA President Tom Shatel of the Omaha World-Herald.

Durant, a 6-9 swingman, is the first freshman to make the USBWA All-America first team since LSU's Chris Jackson in 1989. The Big 12 Player of the Year was fourth in the nation in scoring (25.6) and fourth in rebounding (11.3). Among his highlights were a 37-point performance in a double-overtime loss to Oklahoma State and a 37-point, 23-rebound game against Texas Tech. Durant has also been named the USBWA's National Freshman of the Year.

Nick Fazekas is Nevada's first USBWA All-American. The 6-11 senior forward averaged 20.5 points and 11.2 rebounds while shooting 58.1 percent from the field and 84.7 from the free-throw line. He led Nevada to its fourth straight WAC regular-season title and was the league's player of the year.

Acie Law led Texas A&M to a school-record 13 Big 12 conference wins in becoming the Aggies' first-ever USBWA All-American. The 6-3 senior guard averaged 17.9 points.

Alando Tucker, who averaged 20.2 points and 5.3 rebounds, helped the Badgers set a school record with 29 wins. The 6-6 senior forward is the first USBWA All-America from Wisconsin and is the school's first All-American since 1950.
