PETTY NAMED BRONKO NAGURSKI
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jermaine Petty added 20 tackles to his SEC-leading total in the win over Ole Miss (Arkansas SID)

DALLAS (FWAA) – Arkansas' senior linebacker Jermaine Petty was named the Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week on Monday by a panel of FWAA members.

The FWAA (Football Writers Association of America) and the Charlotte Touchdown Club pick a Defensive Player of the Week each Monday during the regular season. Petty will be added to the Watch List for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which will be presented on Dec. 10 in Charlotte, N.C., by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

Petty, 6-foot-2, 257 pounds, registered 20 total tackles (six unassisted), including the game-saving tackle in the seventh overtime in Arkansas' 58-56 victory over Ole Miss. Petty also had three quarterback pressures. Petty's tackle on Ole Miss' Doug Zeigler on a two-point conversion attempt gave the Razorbacks a win in the longest game in college football history.
