Walton swatted away Michigan's two-point conversion pass with 2:53 remaining in the game,
which would have tied the score in the Irish's upset of Michigan. He also intercepted a pass
in the final seconds to seal the victory. In addition, he had one fumble recovery, forced
another fumble and deflected a pass to go with eight total tackles, six unassisted.
A three-person panel from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) selects the winner of
the weekly award.
The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club pick a National Defensive Player of the Week each Monday.
Walton will be added to the Watch List for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which will be presented on Dec. 9
in Charlotte, N.C., by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
