DALLAS (FWAA) – Kansas State senior free safety Bobby Walker (Tyler, Texas) is this week's recipient of the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week Award for his performance in the Wildcats' 58-7 win over Iowa State this past Saturday.

Walker returned two interceptions for touchdowns, highlighting Kansas State's strong defensive performance. He picked off a Seneca Wallace pass on the Cyclones' second play from scrimmage in the second half, and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. On the second play of Iowa State's next possession, Walker again picked off a pass from Wallace and went 26 yards for the touchdown. The two returns by Walker came 23 seconds apart and turned a 30-7 halftime lead into a 44-7 edge for the 'Cats.

Walker's two interceptions for touchdowns marked the first time in Kansas State history a player has had two picks for scores in a single game. Walker is the only player in NCAA Division I-A this season to accomplish this feat. He also had three tackles and knocked down two other passes in the game.

The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club pick a National Defensive Player of the Week each Monday. Walker will be added to the Watch List for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which will be presented on Dec. 9 in Charlotte, N.C., by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
