ARE NCBWA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CHICAGO (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending May 23.

Baylor junior designated hitter Josh Ford and Bowling Green junior infielder Andy Hudak have been named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Cal State Fullerton's senior RHP Jason Windsor and East Carolina junior RHP Greg Bunn were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Ford, a Baytown, Texas, native, lashed three home runs in his final two games at Texas Tech and ended the week with four homers, six RBI, and a 4-for-4 "cycle" showing in the final game at Lubbock with a single, double, triple, and HR. He was 11-for-18 (.611) in five games overall while racking up 27 total bases and a 1.500 slugging percentage.

Bowling Green's Hudak, from Toledo, Ohio, batted .692 in four games last week, pounding out nine hits in 13 at-bats. He homered in the final two games and finished the year on a five-game hitting streak, his longest of the season. In the three-game series vs. Western Michigan, Hudak was 8-for-12 (.667) with five runs scored, a 1.167 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage.

Windsor, a Saratoga, Calif., native, hurled his sixth consecutive complete game to help CSF clinch the Big West championship. Windsor went all 10 innings in the marathon matchup against Long Beach State's Jered Weaver, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 12 batters. He retired the first 11 batters of the game and the final 10 batters of the game.

Bunn, a Wake Forest, N.C., native, threw eight shutout innings at Southern Miss, holding the league's second-best hitting team to just five hits as East Carolina clinched the regular season C-USA title with a 9-0 win. He struck out six and walked three in raising his season record to 8-0. It was Bunn's fourth combined shutout this season.
