NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – In the 10th and final week of selections for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's NCAA Division III National Players of the Week covering games of May 1-7, catcher Gerard Haran of The College of New Jersey (Ewing, N.J.) became the season’s only repeat winner for Hitter of the Week, and Cody Flynn of Edgewood College (Madison, Wisc.) took Pitcher of the Week honors with a perfect game.

Haran, a junior from Old Bridge, N.J., earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after hitting .476 (10-for-21) during the Lions' run to their second consecutive NJAC Tournament championship. He hit safely and scored a run in all five of TCNJ's tournament contests, and drove in at least one run in four games. In three games against league runner-up Montclair State, he was a combined 6-for-13 with two home runs, five runs scored and eight RBI. He wrapped up the tournament by delivering a walk-off grand slam in the league championship game to propel the Lions their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The NJAC Player of the Year, Haran currently leads the NJAC in six offensive categories. He also earned National Hitter of the Week honors for March 13-19.

Flynn, a junior from Eureka, Calif., became the first hurler in Edgewood history to throw a perfect game when he set down all 21 Maranatha Baptist Bible College batters he faced in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Backed by 20 hits on the offensive end, the Eagles won the game 21-0. The right-hander struck out eight, rolled three ground balls, and forced ten fly outs in the contest, earning Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week honors. The Eagles’ 3-0 sweep of Maranatha clinched back-to-back LMC championships for Edgewood.
