DALLAS (NCBWA) – A six-homer week by Joel Chrobak of Franklin College and a no-hitter by Cody Boals of Elmhurst have earned the pair the second NCAA Division III National Hitter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors for 2009, covering the week of March 2-8, as voted on by a panel of members from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Chrobak, a senior designated hitter from La Porte, Ind., slammed six home runs and posted a 1.529 slugging percentage in a four-game series with visiting North Central College (Ill.) on March 7-8, helping the Grizzlies win three contests and improve to 5-3. He went 8 for 17 (.471) with nine runs scored and piled up 13 RBIs in the series. He was 1 for 4 with a two-run homer in the Grizzlies' 16-15 victory in the first game on Saturday. He socked three home runs in the second game, including two in the fifth inning (a two-run shot and a grand slam), going 4 for 5 with three runs scored and seven RBIs in that contest, won by Franklin 23-12. The next day, he was 3 for 4, including two home runs (a two-run shot and a solo homer), scored four runs, and totaled four RBI in Franklin's 15-11 come-from-behind win in the nightcap. Chrobak, who is batting .333 with a .879 slugging percentage and 16 RBIs in eight contests overall, was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

Boals, a junior righthander from Orangeville, Ill., tossed a no-hitter in the Bluejays' season-opening 12-0 win over Concordia University (Wis.). The transfer from Highland Community College pitched a complete seven innings, allowing only three walks and striking out 12 in the victory. It was Elmhurst's first no-hitter since the 1999 season. Boals was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week.
