NCBWA NAMES DIVISION II
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its tenth weekly NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards of the 2015 season for the week ending on April 12. Southern New Hampshire outfielder Mike Montville is the National Hitter of the Week while Winona State’s freshman lefty Mitchell Stalsberg is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Mike Montville (Portsmouth, N.H.) Mike Montville batted .560 with four homers and 14 RBIs in an 8-0 week for SNHU. He recorded a .725 on-base percentage and 1.160 slugging percentage on the week while hitting safely in all eight games. Mike went 5-for-9 with two home runs and eight RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Assumption on Saturday.

Mitchell Stalsberg (Viroqua, Wis.) Mitchell Stalsberg had a breakout performance for Winona State on Saturday, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter in an 11-0 victory over Sioux Falls at Loughrey Field in Winona, Minn. The freshman struck out an NSIC season-high 17 batters in the game, which is the fourth-most in a single game in WSU history. The last time a WSU pitcher fanned more came more than 45 years ago. Stalsberg nearly set another WSU record as he struck out seven consecutive batters, the second longest stretch in Warrior history. In the game, only four balls were put in play against Stalsberg and just two balls reached the outfield. The no-hitter is the first for WSU since 2005.
