DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate
Baseball Writers Association released its 11th weekly
NCAA Division II National Players of the Week
awards of the 2015 season for the week ending on April 26.
Indiana (Pa.) first baseman Ryan Uhl is the
National Hitter of the Week while Alderson Broaddus' sophomore
righty Randy Dobnak is the National Pitcher of
the Week.
Uhl (St. Mary's, Pa.) hit .519 (14-for-27) with .548 on-base
percentage and 1.407 slugging percentage in eight games with
eight home runs, 19 RBIs and 12 runs. He hit two home runs in
three games, giving him seven multi-home run games this year. He
hit four home runs in one day vs. Bloomsburg and hit a home run
in four straight games - longest streak of the season, with
seven home runs in four games - his longest streak of the
season. He had five RBIs in three games with five games of five
RBIs or more this season for 19 RBIs - his most in a week this
season.
Alderson Broaddus standout Randy Dobnak (South Park, Pa.) was
lights out once again, this time mowing down Bluefield State
while flirting with a perfect game as the Battlers contend for
top seeding in the G-MAC Championship. In the non-conference
game versus Bluefield State, Dobnak went the distance and faced
one batter over the minimum to complete the seven-inning
no-hitter. Striking out 11, Dobnak only walked one to pick up
his sixth win of the season in dominant fashion. The righty
finds himself in the top five in several pitching categories in
the G-MAC including ERA (2.53), opponent batting average (.210),
innings pitched (57.0), strikeouts (60), wins (6) and walks
allowed (9).
