KANSAS' GRAHAM IS OSCAR
ROBERTSON NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ST. LOUIS (USBWA) – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Kansas guard Devonté Graham as its Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Dec. 3. The USBWA's weekly honor is presented by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.

As the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, Graham was nominated for the weekly award, which was chosen by a representative of the USBWA board of directors from a list of Division I conference players of the week. This is the ninth season that the USBWA has selected a national player of the week.

The 6-2 senior guard from Raleigh, N.C., scored a career-high 35 points in both of Kansas' wins last week over Toledo and Syracuse, while also averaging 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds. His seven three-pointers in the 76-60 win over Syracuse were the most by a Jayhawk since Mario Chalmers hit eight treys against Texas in 2008. Graham became the first Kansas player since Anderw Wiggins in 2014 to score 30 or more points in back-to-back games.

The two big nights raised Graham's scoring average from 12.0 to 18.6 ppg through Saturday's win, which ranks third in the Big 12. He has 56 assists in seven games for the undefeated Jayhawks (7-0), and currently ranks second in the Big 12 and fifth nationally averaging 8.0 assists per game.

Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
