CHICAGO (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association (NCBWA) has released its Division III National Hitter
and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending May 11.
Jon Brown of Brandeis was named the National Hitter of the Week,
while Chad Cosby of Worcester State earned the Pitcher of the Week
honors. A panel of Division III NCBWA members reviews candidates from each
Division III Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout
the season.
Brown was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) New England championships, leading the Judges to their
first ECAC title in 15 years. Brown batted .693 (nine-for-13) with a double,
a triple, four runs batted in, and six runs scored as Brandeis defeated
the United States Coast Guard Academy (11-5), Suffolk University (12-3)
and Western New England College (5-0).
Cosby earns his third MASCAC (Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference)
Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after his shutout in the MASCAC

while shutting out Framingham State for the second time this season.
