DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association released its weekly NCAA Division II
National Players of the Week awards for the period
ending March 11th. Southwest Baptist sophomore catcher
Drew Miller
is the National Hitter of the Week while University of the
Sciences junior righthander Dan McMahon is the
National Pitcher of the Week.
Drew Miller (Neosho, Mo.) led the Bearcats to a 6-0 record
this past week, sweeping Central Methodist and MIAA opponent
Lincoln. Miller hit .625 from the plate over the past week, with
15 RBI, 11 runs scored, seven doubles, and two homeruns. Miller
had a hit, RBI, run scored, and extra-base hit in every game
this week while slugging 1.167.
Dan McMahon (Millville, N.J.) threw a 12-inning complete game
with just 131 pitches while allowing two hits and one earned run
in 5-2 win over St. Rose (3/9). He struck out 10 and walked
four. The 12-inning effort marked the longest complete game in
the history of the University of the Sciences baseball program,
surpassing an 11.1 inning effort tossed in 1942.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of
college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and
publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory,
newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player
of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting.
The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication
and writing contests.
