DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for
the 23rd year with its 2020 weekly surveys and after the second
week of the regular season, Florida takes over at No. 1, followed
by Arkansas at No. 2 and previous No. 1 Texas Tech comes in at No.
3.
Florida takes over the top spot after going 5-0 last week, including
a road series sweep at Miami. Arkansas jumped up from No. 6 to No.
2 after a four-game series sweep of Gonzaga. Texas Tech, the No.
1 team in the poll last week sits at No. 3 after going 2-1 over
the weekend at the Round Rock Classic.
Newcomers to the top 10 include UCLA, who jumped up to No. 7
from No. 11 after going 4-0 last week and N.C. State, who went from
No. 12 to No. 8 after a midweek win against Longwood and a sweep
of Tennessee Tech.
Overall, the top 10 consists of five SEC schools, three ACC programs,
one apiece from the Big 12 and Pac-12.
The biggest risers this week include UCF, who went from not being
ranked to No. 25 after a sweep of Auburn on the road, followed by
Tennessee who went from receiving votes to No. 24. Clemson also
went from receiving votes to jumping into the top 30 at No. 29.
The 2020 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers
and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason
Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national
Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 17 NCBWA DI survey.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of
college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and
publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory,
newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy,
Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA
also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the
Year, and publication and writing contests.
