DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 23rd year with its 2020 weekly surveys and after the third week of the regular season, Florida remains No. 1 for the second-straight week, followed by Texas Tech at No. 2 and Georgia at No. 3.
Florida remains No. 1 as it is still undefeated at 11-0 on the year after a weekend sweep of Troy. Texas Tech moves up one spot to No. 2 after going 5-0 last week, including two wins at Florida State. Georgia rounds out the top three after a 4-0 week, including a sweep of rival Georgia Tech.
Newcomers to the top 10 include Arizona State at No. 9 and Ole Miss at No. 10.
Overall, the top 10 consists of four SEC schools, three ACC programs, two from the Pac-12 and one from the Big 12.
The biggest risers this week include Tennessee, who jumped up eight spots to No. 16 as it remained undefeated after a 5-0 week, followed by Long Beach State that improved seven posts after a 3-1 week, including a series win over then-No. 6 Mississippi State.
The 2020 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 17 NCBWA DI survey.
The current survey has representation by eight different conferences among the 300 baseball-playing schools in the 2020 NCAA Division I ranks. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
