NCBWA NAMES DIVISION III
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – St. John Fisher of New York's Nick Flemister had a remarkable stretch at the plate, while Southwestern University of Texas' Brett Marcom and Bridgewater State of Massachusetts' Andy Sadoski each tossed no-hitters to earn them the second NCAA Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors for 2014 as voted on by a panel of D-III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Flemister, a senior catcher from Pittsford, N.Y., helped lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 record during the span, as they took part in the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational in Florida. Flemister went a combined 12-for-15 with four doubles and a homerun. He tallied seven RBI and scored seven runs as Fisher outscored its competition by a combined score of 53-11. Flemister, the Empire 8 Conference's Hitter of the Week, went 4-for-4 in back-to-back games and is currently batting .577 on the year.

Marcom, a freshman right-hander from Keller, Texas, threw a seven inning no-hitter March 8 facing just three batters over the minimum for his second win of the year and gave Southwestern their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the year over Schreiner. The SCAC Pitcher of the Week recorded five strikeouts and just two walks for the complete game shutout. It was his second win of the season to go to 2-3 and his first complete game shutout of his young career. He shared the award with Sadoski, the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week. The Harwich, Mass., senior tossed a no-hitter, the seventh in program history, in the Bears' first game of the season, a 2-0 win over the Apprentice School in Vero Beach, Florida. Sadoski, who fanned two in the game, retired the first nine batters he faced before a BSU error opened the fourth inning. He would give up a walk three batters later but escaped a second and third, two-out jam by inducing a harmless fly out. Sadoski would retire the side in order in each of the final three innings to complete the no-hitter.

He shared the award with Perkins, the USA South Conference' s Pitcher of the Week. The Appomattox, Va., sophomore fired his second no-hitter of the season in a 13-0, nine-inning win March 1 over Maryville (Tenn.). He issued just one walk and struck out 11.

Honorable Mention Hitters: Casey Hicks (Gallaudet) - 5-for-8 with a homerun, a triple, eight RBIs, two runs scored and three walks, .625 average with an on-base percentage of .667 and a slugging percentage of 1.250; Joe Lampe (St. John's, Minn.) - .579 with three doubles, a triple and team-leading nine RBI in six games; Lee Grosscup (Mount Union) - .533 - 16 hits, 30 at-bats, 14 runs, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 12 RBI, 7 walks, 3 K's and a .590 on-base and .800 slugging percentage.

Honorable Mention Pitchers: Matt Smith (Susquehanna) - five saves in six appearances, 7.1 innings pitched while surrendering 4 hits, 1 earned run and a walk while striking out 7 and allowing a 1.23 ERA.
