NCBWA NAMES DIVISION II
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on April 14. St. Cloud State senior designated hitter Reese Gregory is the National Hitter of the Week, while Colorado Mesa junior pitcher Tanner Herdt is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Gregory (St. Cloud, Minn.) batted .579 as the Huskies charted a 4-1 record last week. He also added 11 hits, 11 RBIs, three doubles and five homers for the Huskies in 19 at bats. In SCSU's 5-1 win over Minnesota State on April 6, Gregory posted two doubles and scored two runs al0ng with making 11 putouts at first. On April 9 in SCSU's 19-0 win over Upper Iowa, Gregory charted two homers, two runs and three RBIs. He also had a double and the Huskies' lone RBI in a 3-1 loss to UIU on April 9. He wrapped up his busy week at the plate on April 10 with one homer, three RBIs and two hits in SCSU's 13-10 win in game one vs. Upper Iowa. To end his week, Gregory pounded out two more HRs, four hits and scored three runs in SCSU's 14-4 win over Upper Iowa on April 10.

Herdt (Gilbert, Ariz.) pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout of CSU-Pueblo over the weekend. He limited the Pack to a first inning double while striking out 11 and walking just two.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
