FLORIDA TOPS NCBWA DIVISION I POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. For the third-straight week Florida holds down the No. 1 spot in the poll, while the No. 2 and No. 3 teams flip, with Stanford jumping up to No. 2 and Arkansas coming in at No. 3.

The Gators remain No. 1 this week after going 4-0 last week, with a series sweep over SEC foe Missouri and a midweek win over rival Florida State.

Stanford jumps back up to No. 2 this week after going 4-0, including a series sweep over Pac-12 opponent Arizona State.

Arkansas slides back one this week to No. 3 after going 3-1 on the week, including a series win South Carolina.

Texas Tech stays put at No. 4 after a 3-1 week, including a series sweep of Kansas State.

North Carolina State slides up one to No. 5 after a series win over Notre Dame and a midweek victory over UNCW.

Duke joins the top 10 this week at No. 9 after sitting at No. 13 last week. The Blue Devils benefited from two wins over then-No. 10 Florida State, and were 3-1 overall on the week.

The other big mover into the top 10 this week was Indiana, who sits at No. 10, climbing two spots after a 4-0 week, including a sweep of Big Ten foe Northwestern.

Texas joins the top 25 this week, jumping up four spots to No. 23. Dallas Baptist and Connecticut moved into the top 30 at No. 28 and No. 29, respectively. Minnesota also jumped into the top 30 after not receiving votes previously.

The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 19 NCBWA DI survey.

The current survey has representation by 12 different conferences among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated at least one week. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
