DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls
for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. For the third-straight
week Florida holds down the No. 1 spot in the poll, while the No.
2 and No. 3 teams flip, with Stanford jumping up to No. 2 and Arkansas
coming in at No. 3.
The Gators remain No. 1 this week after going 4-0 last week,
with a series sweep over SEC foe Missouri and a midweek win over
rival Florida State.
Stanford jumps back up to No. 2 this week after going 4-0, including
a series sweep over Pac-12 opponent Arizona State.
Arkansas slides back one this week to No. 3 after going 3-1 on
the week, including a series win South Carolina.
Texas Tech stays put at No. 4 after a 3-1 week, including a series
sweep of Kansas State.
North Carolina State slides up one to No. 5 after a series win
over Notre Dame and a midweek victory over UNCW.
Duke joins the top 10 this week at No. 9 after sitting at No.
13 last week. The Blue Devils benefited from two wins over then-No.
10 Florida State, and were 3-1 overall on the week.
The other big mover into the top 10 this week was Indiana, who
sits at No. 10, climbing two spots after a 4-0 week, including a
sweep of Big Ten foe Northwestern.
Texas joins the top 25 this week, jumping up four spots to No.
23. Dallas Baptist and Connecticut moved into the top 30 at No.
28 and No. 29, respectively. Minnesota also jumped into the top
30 after not receiving votes previously.
The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers
and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason
Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national
Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 19 NCBWA DI survey.
The current survey has representation by 12 different conferences
among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division
I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of
college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and
publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory,
newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy,
Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA
also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the
Year, and publication and writing contests.
