STANFORD TOPS NCBWA DIVISION I POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. By the narrowest of margins, Stanford takes over at No. 1, followed by Florida at No. 2 and Texas Tech jumps up to round out the top three. Stanford collected 646 total points to Florida's 644.

The Cardinal jumps up to No. 1 for the first time this season after going 3-0 in a series sweep of Pac-12 foe Arizona.

Florida drops back to No. 2 after going 2-2 last week, falling to Jacksonville in a midweek contest before taking two-of-three from Kentucky.

Texas Tech jumps up one spot to join the top three this week after going 3-1, including a series win over Big 12 foe Oklahoma.

East Carolina moves up a poll-high five spots to join the top 10 at No. 8 this week, after going 4-0 last week with a sweep of Memphis and a midweek win over then-No. 9 Duke.

UCLA joined the top 10 at No. 9 after going 3-1 last week, including a sweep of crosstown rival USC.

Southern Miss rounds out the top 10 after an impressive 4-0 week.

Oklahoma State and USF both jumped into the top 30 this week, sitting at 28 and 29, respectively.

The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 19 NCBWA DI survey.

The current survey has representation by 12 different conferences among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated at least one week. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
