DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls
for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. For the second-straight
week Stanford holds down the No. 1 spot, while Florida remains at
No. 2. Oregon State rejoins the top three at No. 3 this week.
The Cardinal remains at No. 1 after going 3-1 last week, including
a series win over rival California. They are 33-6 on the season.
Teams ranked No. 1 this year have been Florida (preseason-March
5, April 2-16), Oregon State (March 12-26) and Stanford (April 23-current).
Florida stays at No. 2 after a 2-2 record last week, including
a series win over SEC rival Auburn.
Oregon State jumps up two spots to rejoin the top three this
week after a series win over Arizona State and a midweek victory
over local foe Portland.
North Carolina jumps up this week from No. 11 to No. 5 after
going an undefeated 4-0 last week, including a three-game series
sweep of then-No. 4 NC State. The Tar Heels are currently riding
a seven-game win streak.
Clemson joined the top 10 this week, coming in at No. 8 after
an impressive 5-0 week, including a three-game series sweep at Virginia.
This week's biggest mover was Oklahoma State, who joined the
top 25 at No. 19 after sitting at No. 28.
Houston and Stetson both joined the top 30 this week, coming
in at No. 28 and No. 29, respectively.
The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers
and related media persons from throughout the nation.
The current survey has representation by 15 different conferences
among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division
I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of
college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and
publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory,
newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy,
Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA
also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the
Year, and publication and writing contests.
