DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls
for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. For the third-straight
week Stanford holds down the No. 1 spot, while Florida sits at No.
2 and Oregon State at No. 3.
The Cardinal remains at No. 1 after an undefeated 4-0 week, sweeping
Pac-12 foe Utah and defeating University of San Francisco in a Tuesday
contest. The Cardinal is currently riding a six-game winning streak.
Teams ranked No. 1 this year have been Florida (preseason-March
5, April 2-16), Oregon State (March 12-26) and Stanford (April 23-current).
Florida stays at No. 2 after taking a series over then-No. 18
Texas A&M on the road.
Oregon State remains at No. 3 for the second-straight week. The
Beavers went 3-0-1 last week, defeating rival Oregon in a nonconference
game before going 2-0-1 in a Pac-12 series at Washington State.
North Carolina State jumps up five spots into the top five this
week. The Wolfpack sits at No. 5 after going 3-1 last week after
a sweep of William & Mary.
Southern Miss joins the top 10 this week, coming in at No. 9
after going 3-1, including a three-game sweep of UAB.
This week's biggest mover was Auburn, who joined the top 25 at
No. 19 after sitting at No. 27 last week.
Louisville, Oklahoma and Saint John's join the top 30 this week
after previously receiving votes. They sit at No. 28, 29 and 30,
respectively.
The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers
and related media persons from throughout the nation.
The current survey has representation by 15 different conferences
among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division
I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated
