DALLAS (NCBWA) An unblemished run through
the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship produced Tampas eighth
national championship in program history, as well as the top spot
in the final National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)
Division II Top 25.
The Spartans outscored opponents by a 26-5 count in four games
at the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Cary, N.C., including
a 3-1 victory over top-seeded Colorado Mesa in the national championship
game. Tampa closed out its 2019 season with an 11-game win streak,
and has now won eight-straight games in Cary dating back to the
2015 campaign.
NYIT (No. 13), which culminated a historic season with its first
trip to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, added its first
NCBWA Top 25 ranking in school history to its resume as well. Mercyhurst
(No. 9) and Colorado School of Mines (No. 24) also re-entered the
NCBWA Top 25 this week as well.
