PEMBROKE, N.C. (NCBWA) – Angelo State cashed
in on 16 first-place votes to maintain its perch atop the
NCBWA Division II Top 25 on Wednesday afternoon,
while defending national champion Tampa raked in two of its own
to keep pace with the Rams at the top of the ranking. Lindenwood
grabbed the remaining first-place vote to join a list of seven teams
that have sported that mark of excellence this season.
Nine of the top 10 teams in the national ranking stayed the same,
with Mount Olive re-inserting itself among that group after capturing
three wins in its four-game series with then-No. 4 North Greenville.
The Trojans were the biggest mover on the week – jumping eight spots
to No. 8 – while Franklin Pierce made a similar leap as the Ravens
leapt seven spots to No. 16 after opening their season with three-straight
wins.
This week's ranking features just one new team – Mercyhurst.
The Lakers are among the nation's top 25 teams for the first time
since February 19 (Week 1) of the 2020 campaign after racking up
31 runs in a doubleheader sweep of D'Youville College at home.
