Reddish of Barton College (Wilson, N.C.) and Brooklyn
Pannell of the University of Charleston (Charleston, W.
Va.) were named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association
Division II National Players of the Week for the week ending
Feb. 14.
Reddish, a senior guard, averaged 26.0 points, 11.3 rebounds,
and 4.3 assists while leading Barton to a 2-1 record in 3 games
last week. Reddish posted double-doubles in 2 of the 3 contests
and was 2 assists shy of a triple-double in the Bulldogs’ 94-79
win over Erskine on Feb. 12, scoring 24 points with 16 rebounds
and 8 assists in the victory. Reddish followed that performance
the next night with another double-double as he poured in 40 points
with 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Barton to a 92-83 win and
weekend sweep of Erskine.
Reddish opened the week with 16 points and 5 rebounds on the
road in a 70-63 defeat at Mount Olive. His 40-point performance
was the seventh-highest single-game scoring effort in Division II
this season.
For the 3-game week, Reddish shot 47 percent (24-for-51) from
the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and he made 85 percent
(28-for-33) of his free throws.
Pannell, a senior guard, was named the named the Mountain East
Conference Player of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to
a 3-0 week in which she averaged 36.7 points per game.
The Columbus, Ohio, native began the week with 41 points on 14-of-23
shooting in an 82-53 win over Wheeling University, which included
6-of-9 from three-point range.
Pannell then scored 35 points in an 86-64 win over West Virginia
State University, netting 8-of-10 from beyond the arc, while also
grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out five assists.
She finished the week by scoring 34 points in an 87-52 victory
over West Virginia Wesleyan College, where she was 7-of-10 from
beyond the three-point line.
Pannell finished the week 39-of-74 (52.7 percent) from the field,
including 21-of-29 (72.4 percent) from three-point range and averaged
4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Each Tuesday, the USBWA is selecting men's and women's Division
II National Players of the Week. This is the seventh season that
the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division
II.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at
the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some
900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations
in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since
