PEMBROKE, N.C. (NCBWA) A mixed bag of
results on the diamond last week created a logjam atop the National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top
25 on Wednesday afternoon, but it was defending national champion
Wingate that emerged from the scuffle to reclaim the No. 1 spot.
The defending national champion Bulldogs reeled in nine first-place
votes to edge out Tampa for the top spot in this weeks ranking,
despite the Spartans raking in an equal number of first-place nods.
The top three teams in the listing, including No. 3 Central Missouri
who collected a first-place vote as well, are separated by just
nine points.
Four teams re-entered the top 25 this week after
previously appearing in this seasons listings. Minnesota State
(No. 19) is back in the poll for the first team since the preseason
edition. Lenoir-Rhyne (No. 20) and Drury (No. 24) are nationally-ranked
again after three-week hiatuses, while Azusa Pacific (No. 25) is
in the national poll for the first team since the preseason top
25 as well.
