WINGATE TOPS NCBWA DIVISION II POLL

PEMBROKE, N.C. (NCBWA) – It was dιjΰ vu all over again in Wednesday’s edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 as there was no movement among the top five teams in the ranking for the first time all season. Wingate raked in 17 of a possible 19 first-place votes for the second-straight week to top the listing, while Tampa collected the remaining first place votes to settle into the No. 2 spot.

The top five teams in the listing combined to post a 16-2 record on the baseball diamond last week, with the top-ranked Bulldogs and No. 5 North Greenville absorbing the only setbacks. Thirty-eight teams logged at least one point for consideration in the Week 12 edition of the Top 25.

Winners in seven of their last eight contests, Saint Leo is back in the NCBWA Top 25 for the first time since May 9, 2018 (Week 12), while two teams re-entered the national ranking after short hiatuses. Valdosta State (No. 17) checked back into the poll following a three-week absence, while Lenoir-Rhyne (No. 24) is nationally ranked again after checking out last week.
