NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

ST. LOUIS (USBWA)Khory Moore of Virginia Wesleyan College (Norfolk, Va.) and Camille McPherson of Moravian College (Bethlehem, Pa.) were named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Players of the Week for the week ending November 20.

Moore, a 6-0 senior guard from Arlington, Va., averaged 29.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals as the No. 16-ranked (D3Hoops.com) Marlins (3-0) defeated all three of their opponents to start the season. Moore’s week was highlighted by a school-record 48-point performance (14-of-22 FG, 14-of-14 FT, 6-of-10 3FG) in a 101-94 win over Concordia (Texas) on Saturday. He added seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in recording the second-highest single-game point total in a Division III game so far this season and the highest total in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) since 2007.

Moore had 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a 78-62 win against Frostburg St. on Friday. In Virginia Wesleyan’s season-opener on Tuesday, Moore finished with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the Marlins’ 99-61 victory. For his efforts, Moore earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Marlins’ Tip-Off Tournament and was named ODAC Player of the Week.

McPherson, a 5-10 senior forward from West Orange, N.J. averaged 23.6 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in leading the Greyhounds (3-0) to three victories. In a season-opening win (58-50) against No. 17-ranked Moravian (D3Hoops.com) on Tuesday, McPherson recorded career highs of 30 points and 19 rebounds, while adding three assists and a steal. She double-doubled again against Cabrini on Friday, totaling 27 points, 12 rebounds and two assists in the Greyhounds’ 75-59 victory.

McPherson concluded her week with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and one block in Moravian’s 96-58 win over Geneva on Saturday. For the week, McPherson shot 50.0 percent (24-38) from the field and 95.5 percent (19-20) from the foul line. For her efforts, McPherson earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Swarthmore College Tip-Off Tournament and was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week.

Each Tuesday, the USBWA is selecting men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week. This is the third season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
