DALLAS (FWAA) – College football's two unbeatens remain the unanimous Top 2 in the latest FWAA/Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll. Miami picked up each of the 16 first-place votes, while Ohio State garnered each second-place choice. Even with a week off, Washington State jumped from fifth to No. 3 in the poll, while Iowa and Oklahoma fell into a tie at No. 4. Texas, after its loss to Texas Tech, tumbled from No. 4 to No. 11, but Colorado's re-entry at No. 16 gives the Big 12 four team in the poll. The Big Ten also sports four schools in the poll this week. The FWAA/Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll, which has made its debut this season, will decide the winner of the Grantland Rice Trophy, the FWAA's national championship award presented since 1954. The presentation will be made on Sat., Jan. 4 in Tempe, Ariz., following the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. • Click here to see how and why each pollster voted The complete poll for the week of Nov. 18 is as follows:
Texas Tech, which won a 42-38 shootout with Texas to remain in contention for the Big 12 South title, is the FWAA's national "Team of the Week." Senior quarterback Kliff Kingsbury outdueled Texas' Chris Simms by throwing for 473 yards and six touchdowns in the win in Lubbock. The honor is also decided by the 16-member panel that votes in the organization's Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll. Alabama, for its 31-0 trouncing of LSU in Death Valley and Georgia for its miracle rally over Auburn, were the other teams drawing consideration this week. The FWAA "Team of the Week" will continue to be announced each Monday with the Super 16 Poll throughout the season. The FWAA, in conjunction with the Charlotte Touchdown Club, also awards a Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week award each week.
