NCBWA NAMES NATIONAL
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CHICAGO (NBCWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending May 12th.

McAnulty
Hart

Long Beach State junior first baseman/designated hitter Paul McAnulty was named the National Hitter of the Week, while Florida junior RHP Alex Hart won the Pitcher of the Week honors. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

McAnulty blasted three homers over the four games, including one longball in each of Long Beach State's two wins against league-leading Cal State Northridge. McAnulty turned in a 1.067 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage for the week. He tied a season high with four RBI in the 49ers' 15-3 win over the Matadors on May 10. McAnulty went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs and two RBI in the team's 7-2 victory on Saturday. He was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a home run against UCLA on May 7.

Hart threw a career-long 8-2/3 innings and struck out a career-high nine batters in a 6-2 win over nationally-ranked LSU. He retired 18 of 19 batters in a row at one point, including 14 straight from the third through seventh innings. The 14 consecutive batters retired ranks sixth on UF's all-time consecutive batters retired list. The win was Hart's 12th this season, making him the Gators first 12-game winner since 1991.
