Unbeaten Tulane, LSU round out top three
TEXAS REMAINS NO. 1 IN NCBWA POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the eighth year with its 2005 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will continue each Monday through June 28, following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

The top-ranked Texas Longhorns swept Stanford in a three-game series on their way to an 11-0 start, their best since 1995, to keep the nation's No. 1 ranking. Tulane outscored visiting Arizona State, 23-7, in a weekend sweep to move to 7-0 and up to No. 2 in the poll. Unbeaten LSU moved up three notches to No. 3 this week.

UC Irvine, at No. 23, is among six new teams to enter the poll this week. No. 19 USC and No. 14 Texas A&M made the biggest jumps, moving up seven and six spots, respectively. Stanford, meanwhile, dropped ten places, from fifth to 15th. The SEC, with now nine schools in the rankings, leads all conferences.
