DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the eighth year with
its 2005 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will continue each Monday through
June 28, following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.
The top-ranked Tulane Green Wave took two out of three from TCU
to clinch the Conference USA regular-season title and tie its school record
of 47 wins, heading into the C-USA tournament. Call State Fullerton, Texas
and Oregon State all stayed hot as well. The Titans won the Big West title
to claim their 14th straight NCAA tournament berth, the Longhorns took 2-of-3
from Texas A&M over the weekend and the Beavers have clinched at least a
share of the Pac-10 title. Oregon State has not won an outright conference
title in baseball since 1952.
